You'd be surprised at how much you can help!
Many times people aren't even aware of know something that they can contribute!
Even if you don't know the people in the photo, you might know other things.

For instance, simply knowing where a place is adds tremendous help!
That in itself, narrows a photo's images in many ways.
From being anywhere in the world, to a specific area, region, or even address.
From the begining of photography, to a set of dates lived in or visited somewhere.
From thousands of family members, to a very specific group of possible names.
And probably more that only someone with knowledge of an area might have!


Here's a few things to look for in the pictures...

Clothing, furniture, or any item shown in pictures have the same principle.
Only someone familiar with given objects or practices might recognize these clues.

Furniture & Decor can be helpful if a particular piece is  known.
It can help eliminate any dates prior to it being built, thus limiting the prospectives.

Advertising on store windows, trucks and more can help place or date photographs.
Usually obscured and accidental, but if you recognize something, speak up!

Backdrops & Props that are identicle may mean the same area photographer.
Other items in a photograph may be indicative to an era, place or other criteria.
This can be yet another factor based on other known photographs.

Backgrounds & Buildings or scenic views and known city downtown areas.
Whatever is in the photo that holds a clue to the area it was taken in.

Vehicles are in many newer photographs.
Something as simple as a model name and year can limit the photograph timeframe.
It may be remembered by someone who knows of someone owning that model!

Equipment like tools, machinery, kitchen gadgets, televisions, stoves, and more.
These all told a story of their own about whoever used them. Someone remembers!



There are so many things that can help, so collectively everyone can be a part of.
With enough clues, an educated guess can be made to compare to known images.

The point is... Advancement!
You might not know anything about the person being shown...
But you may know something about the other things in the photograph!
